Professor Dr. Henrik Rudolph is the Dean of the Faculty of Military Sciences (FMS) which is part of the Netherlands Defence Academy. The FMS offers three academic bachelor’s programs and one academic master’s program for (candidate) officers of the Dutch armed forces. These degree programs are also open for non-military defence personnel and civilians. The researchers at the FMS focus their studies primarily on military relevant disciplines.
Professor Rudolph received his MSc. in Physics from the University of Copenhagen (1984) and his Ph.D. in Molecular Physics (Chemistry) from the California Institute of Technology (1989). Previously (2001- 2010) he worked as a full Professor of Physics at Utrecht University, the Netherlands, in the Department of Physics and Astronomy. He started his career at the California Institute of Technology, in the Chemistry department where he worked as a (senior) research assistant.
His research interests include, amongst others, non-linear optics and spectroscopy, laser plasmas and multiphoton ionization. He has held visiting professorships at the University of Bergen (Norway), the University of Copenhagen (Denmark) and University Catholique Louvan-la-Neuve (Belgium).
Professor Rudolph is also the Editor in Chief of Applied Surface Science (ELSEVIER), which is the largest scientific journal in surface science with more than 7500 submissions per year.
